Wednesday, September 06, 2006 . Band outing

i organised a band outing for jared and oliver, yes it was fun.
We met at 10 am at Yishun MRT. Jared was pissed off because i didn't meet him at the upper platform as i said. Well, i had to top up my ez-link card, and, wait for Oliver. That guy didn't have his handphone (it was spolit) so i had to wait for him (he might get lost if he didnt find me), but jared wouldnt listen. It ended up that he HAD been waiting at Yishun MRT all along from 10:35!!!
Man that asshole tickled my ribs from behing and made a mess of me and the surrounding public! Everyone was looking at us. I could not wait to get up to the platform.
When i reached the platform, jared was angry. He has these tempers that sometimes irritate you, since he wants everything done his way. Well, not everyone can adapt to that.
We didn't talk much on the MRT,as Jared was listening to his MP3. I don't really like it when ppl are with their friends, and they have their MP3 players on, not caring about the other person who doesn't have one. Given Jared's temper, he will not be happy if you disturb him. And, a little SMALL comment about his drumming skills would fire him up, and we had (or rather i) had a little minor tussle with him.
Getting off at City Hall station, we were headed for Peninsular Plaza, to look at guitars, socialise as well as to look at clothing gear. There are tons of stuff there. Guitar shops alone have 5 or 6, clothing shops...well, they dominate the whole place!!! They are virtually everywhere! The main purpose of going there was to get my guitar repaired. The socket was spoilt.
I placed the guitar at the shop, the guy told me to return at 1.30pm. We went on a tour.
Davis' Guitars, a guitar store on the bottom floor, has an impressive array of guitars. Unfortunately for us, the visual (and phsycological) onslaught of Gibsons and Fenders were not in the shop. We expect top level guitars, but instead found no-name brands. However, we found a Gibson Les Paul, and two Fender Stratocasters. My dream guitar(s)!
They did, however, have a more-than-just-decent arrary of amplifiers. From cheap $45 amps to high top level Marshall JCM2000 TSL100 amplifiers, that place is a dream for any Marshall fan. I'm one, so the Marshall amps there are marvellous (they are). From smaller Marshall amps to the giant, that was my first close up with Marshall amplifiers.
The stores there made custom guitars. There was one shop who sold 2nd hand Gibsons and Fenders in good quality. We found a Les Paul Supreme and about four or five Strats. A old Strat was lying upright against an amp, with its cable still connected. We were unsure whether it could be tested, but we didn't ask anyway.
We went off to Burger King for lunch. Then, i got a shock: My S$50 from my wallet was missing! I later found out that bloody ass of a fucker Jared took it from my wallet when i was in the guitar shop testing guitars. I had placed my wallet on the floor while testing. That damned ass!!!
I ordered a Double BBQ Turkey Bacon Value Meal (it was my favourite burger OF ALL TIME) and ate. I had to start my meal late because of the money delay. We cracked plenty of jokes, some lame ones, but overall, lunch was probably the most eventful and enjoyable time of the day.
Our roaming contnued after that, this time focused on clothes. The almost endless sotckpile of clothes and footwear all around the building led Jared to label the place 'a fashion hub'. And how right he was. Any kind of clothing was possible to find there. From your favourite band T-Shirts to upmarket and underground brands, they have it all. It only takes careful eyes to spot the right ones.
Footwear was in its abundance there. At least 3 sports shoes stores laid at different spots in the building. One was a large one, situated on the basement one flor. In the two basement floors alone, sports stores made their presence felt. There are specific sports stores, sports stores that sell specifically fashion sports wear and shoe stores and even lumberjack shoe stores littered throughout the building, just waiting for you to hunt them out, explore them.
We collected the guitar at around close to 1:30pm, the intended time for pick-up. My guitar was ready by then, and we had fun testing it on the shop owner's amp. Jared spotted a store beside our store which he thought would allow us test guitars. There was no guitar testing, although there was Fenders and Gibson, the usual dream fare. We talked to her (the shop owner) about the guitars, and then thanked her and left. We explored the amps at Davis' again on Jared's persistent requests. I took the chance to get up close and personal with my dream amp. I needed a guitar strap! I need one. My old one was beyond repair. I had to buy one with whatever I had left. In the end, i bought one from my original shop at 6 bucks. Nice!
With all that, we headed off to Plaza Singapura to follow Oliver on what would be a short trip for me and jared there. Oliver was there to get his Motorola fixed.
It was a good day, may all other band outings be the same, OR EVEN BETTER!!!
