Black and White Abstract
Friday, November 23, 2007 . The music carnival and other stuff

The music carnival was woooooot boring.

Its the music carnival at Ollie's sch, the concert cum band comp between 10 (pretty much shitty) bands. Its the one ANarchist auditioned for and didnt get in.

Now Singapore isnt really well liked for its weather, and the temperature that day felt like double the usual afternoon soon. WTF?! Everywhere was hot, and i was wearing black with blue jeans.

For a "nice" hot day you wouldnt expect much soft mud in the field the concert (the main attraction) was held. Nothing like what i expected. Mud in most places that dirty up your shoe should you step in them, good luck to those ppl who wore slippers and sandals.

The fashion sense of guys at his school were horrible? The bands mostly never knew how to dress up, nothing stylish, and the better ones wore stick-like tapered pants WHICH SUCK. And wtf? Chinese ahbeng wannabes wearing tapered pants? Those are for gays. Chinese who were tapered pants should fuck themselves. I could break those stick legs. For malays, tapered pants is their culture, so i dun care.

In ytss its pretty much a fashion parade when No Uniform Day comes. His school? Complete opposite.

Okay, enough of that. Lets talk abt the bands.

Hellven X rocked, as usual. Some neo classical metal. The Freeloaders did some broring sleepy stuff, Hanging By A Thread sounds like any screamo band. A;; their performed originals featured almost the same sturctue.
There was a band who daringly covered Megadeth's 'Hangar 18' and Metallica's 'Enter Sandman'. This proved to be a disastrous formula. Its like putting a can of cold Pepsi and some hot coffee in a thermos flask. They were out of time, bassist kept dancing around like a crazed cat, vocalist weas sub-standard,guitarist faired JUST decently (he could shred though). The bassist had some energy that would have been good if his other bandmates would simply do the same. And they failed to do the basic thing any band who can play together should do: STAY IN TIME!

The bassist's winter camo cargo pants rocked though. Looked cool. I wanna buy winter/urban camo cargo pants soon.

Hellven did an original, but with much less of Roamie's antics compared to their audition song. Still, hats off to them; they are amazingly technical.

I couldnt remember any other performanceS (prolly becoz they sucked).

The judges were too subtle in their comments, with VERY FEW bad comments, which is actually essential coz some band's deserved it. Like DUKE LQ. The judges praised the bassist's energy (which I do too), but did not mention that they were astoundingly out of time (which was their most glaring flaw). The judges completely toned down their comments. Hey, even Singapore Idol and Live The Dream contestants (who are mostly better than those in the music carnival) are criticised by judges when needed to. Maybe its because the judges listen to too much pop, thats why they think boring music is decent/good music.

Mathilda de Silva was a cockout at judging. Giving shit comments, moving her head to just about every band (especially the ones who played pop shit) and talking crap. Basically, she just talked about useless stuff about the bands that performed, things that was already obvious to the average person watching. And the not so obvious? She never really said it.

On the food there, damn ex. 2 bucks for a packet of nasi lemak with samn little rice and a little too much ingredients. One bottle of drink for 2 bucks. My god, i could get them cheaper at seven eleven.

Tat's abt it for the concert. Now moving on.

I havent blogged since last week cos i was lazy (lol), and also becos my laptop was gone for three days since sunday. Right now im using a new keyboard wif my big com, allowing me to do lots of stuff. But no speaker, goddamn.

Oliver wanna become a gayboy. Copy my Opeth picture from my blog. Fuckhim.

Nothing much to rant or say abt these days. Except that pop rock sucks sucks sucks. I and oliie shouted 'POP SUCKS' at the carnival when Hellven X came on.

Yesterday, I and a group of my classmates went to see Helmi off at Changi Airport. Hes going off to India for the International PET Rocket comp. All the best to him.

Anyway heres a complete list of clothes i wanna buy:
Long sleeve t shirt black,
Another band shirt,
two army cargo pants (winter and urban),
a cloth belt and one leather belt (one army green and one solid black),
a new shoe (the brand pony i guess, dark grey),
chains (at least 3-5),
metal gloves,
metal bracelets,
2 formal shirts,
and lastly, a jacket.
and my hair sucks. I'm gonna cut GI with fringe.

Thats all. Will update again soon.
