These few days have seen a very nice anti-pop campaign posts by my friends red, mie, and ollie.
So i shall leave the bashing to them, i will praise the metal/rock gods instead.
First up....

Too bad they arent as good as they used to be, but hey, even St Anger sounds a million times better than Jonas Brother's latest album. What was the title? Ah shit, forget it. Not worth remembering.
Another great band. A legendary band that deserves to be up there with all the shitty to average pop bands that's ruining music (take that, fall out gays). Nice melodic music fused with their trademark 'galloping' guitar and bass rhythm, even my friends who are in a pop rock band love them. You cant avoid Iron Maiden for metal. They are are a band every metalhead must listen to, or at least, respect them.
SLAYER. FUCKING SLAYER. HEADBANG.
Many of their songs, esp from Reign In Blood era is Megadeth on steroids. And speaking of Megadeth....
If Metallica mastered atmosphere in their music, these guys mastered the art of fun. Very enjoyable thrash metal.

you want groove metal from these guys? you got it. you want melody? you got it. you want aggressiveness? you got it too. Machine Head, imo, is easily one of the best bands around. The Blackening is just, wow, EPIC.
and who could forget....

They are, beyond a shadow of doubt, my favourite band of all time.
Going from soft to heavy, heavy to soft, the formula seems repititve, but with Mikeal Akerfeldt at the helm, its always assured pure 100% godly music. I have 6 of their albums, and want to get their whole discography.

and also, this band is also pop, but owns their ass:
they write nice, really good songs. You cant say they suck. After all they made pop and rock as it is today.
